Red Hot is an album by the Cuban percussionist Mongo Santamaria, released in 1979 by the Tappan Zee Records label. It features a mix of Afro-Cuban jazz and disco music, with some of the songs composed by the bassist Gary King and the singer Robert Lamm. The album also includes a cover of Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man”, with vocals by La Lupe, and a tribute to Duke Ellington called “Afro-Cuban Fantasy”. The album showcases Santamaria’s skills on the congas, bongos, and other percussion instruments, as well as the talents of other musicians such as Bob James, Eric Gale, Jon Faddis, and Mike Brecker.
